“It is often believed that the majority of separated children moving within or across countries end up exploited and trafficked. Whilst TDH recognizes that this remains the case for many separated children, it also points out to existing evidence showing the positive impact migration has on human development, including children. In 2008, the organization commissioned a study on the various existing practices of protection of children on the move. The author of the study, Mike Dottridge, concluded that while there are some good practices succeeding in protecting children on the move, there are also substantial concerns, as many service providers fail in finding the right balance between the right of the child to protection versus his or her other rights. (…)”
