MONA — Foundation for the Women of Hungary framed a publication, which was issued within the framework of the project “Development of interdisciplinary cooperation in Hungary to support the fight against trafficking and prostitution”. The project worked out recommendations for the modification of the laws on trafficking in human beings and prostitution in Hungary by analysing the relevant laws of Sweden and Norway, and by adapting them to the Hungarian laws. The project has also worked out the protocols of a care system after investigating the interdisciplinary co-operation systems of the EU. It implemented training for policemen, and organized forums for the target groups to foster professional co-operation.

The publication contains two reports wtritten by co-workers of MONA Foundation and ten very useful annexes.
“Lack of information – inadequate legal framework – persons in need unassisted (The situation of prostitution and human trafficking in Hungary)” was written by Anna Betlen, focusing on the consequences of the lack of knowledge in the society about prostitution, which not only concerns women but very often children as well. She shared MONA’s position by stating that prostitution and human trafficking for the purpose of sexual exploitation are the exploitation of women and children.

„Development of interdisciplinary cooperation in Hungary to support the fight against human trafficking and prostitution” was conducted by project coordinator, Andrea Matolcsi. She shared the results of the small research carried out by MONA with the participation of altogether a dozen decision-makers in Hungary, with the aim of assessing the level of knowledge among political, state and police leaders, and finding out what methods for handling and solving cases they are aware of or propose.
