More must be done to give children in care the best possible chance in life according to a National Assembly for Wales report. The Children and Young People Committee has completed its ten-month inquiry into the placement of children into care and concluded that finances should not be a restriction in making sure vulnerable children get the best possible care and that local authorities should value positive, long term outcomes over short term savings.

Chair of the Committee Helen Mary Jones said: “One of the consistent messages of this inquiry has been that looked after placements have the potential to change lives for the better, to help children and young people overcome past difficulties and fulfil their latent talent.”
