Switzerland 100 young migrants take part in Tdh workshops for the next two weeks
2 Jun 2009 |
Lausanne, Switzerland: Foreign Unaccompanied Minors (FUM) in Geneva, Fribourg, Vaud, Zurich and Basel participated in a debate about their support in Switzerland and on respect of their rights. The organization of those workshops is the purpose of the Tdh project and will last for the next two weeks. The aim of these first workshops is to familiarize the migrant children on how to make their voices heard and be also active in the change. Difficulties in language, different training levels and cultural diversity are just some of challenges on which Tdh will work in this participation-based project. The first workshop (Fribourg, June 2nd) with about 12 youths has reasons to be optimistic. Two coordinators engaged in this project, Leticia Cherbuin and Michel Ducommun, seem to have found how to gain the interest of the youths and their motivation. After this 1st contact, a youth cadre will be set up in July 2009 to think about their situation and to prepare the next steps of the project.
