Kosovo 205 new cases detected during the summer camps

Pristina, Kosovo: 941 children were participating to the summer camps organised by the team of Tdh and partner in Kosovo. From them, 205 children were identified as new cases at risk of exploitation or at the threshold of juvenile deliquency. The most worrying cases will be taken in charge by the Task Forces in their regularly coordinated actions.
The three weeks summer camps were organized in the frame of Task Forces activitie with the aim of offering alternatives to street situation, sensitization of communities and local authorities on the phenomena of children exploitation / trafficking, delinquency, socializing children with their peers, identifying new cases of children who are begging on the street, and at risk of delinquency. Children have benefited from psychosocial activities with the aim of increasing responsibility of children, self-confidence, and expression of emotions, reflection, respect, collaboration, integration and communication.
Targeted cities were: Gjakove, Fushe Kosovo, Mitrovice (Northen and Southern parts), Peja, Gracanica (Serbian enclave), and Pristina. Preparations and children identification were organized by the local institutions representatives of Task Forces: Child Protection Services, Municipality Directorate of Education, and schools.
Before beginning the summer camps, a five-day training was organized to strengthen the animators’ role in preparation and implementation of psychosocial activities with different children group ages. Participant’s included animators during the camps were 7 Child Protection social workers, 8 teachers and school psychologists, 1 Probation Service officer, 14 NGO members from “Roma Women for Roma Woman”, “Initiative 6”, “Alma” NGO, “Balkan Sunflower”, “Bethany Christian Services” and Tdh team.
