Moldova A new database on child protection issues
13 Jun 2007 |
Between Albania, Greece and Kosovo, a database is already in place since April 07 to facilitate and secure the exchange of information between partners across borders (TACT Project). Today, the Delegation of Tdh in Moldova, together with the Regional Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist of the Regional Project in Budapest, is working on the set up of a specialized database on child protection issues in 3 Moldovan regions (FACT Project). Stefan Savin is leading the technical development of such tool in Chisinau, and he explains the content of the database and the future use of the information…
Stefan Savin: The database contains firstly some demographic data about the child, like the region and the village where the child leaves, gender, age of the child, and some other elements related to demographic data. After we have to collect information about the parents and care givers of the child, from the family. And the second part of the database, the biggest one, is the information related to child protection issues, like information about problems related to the specific children: information about abuse, neglect, violence, child trafficking and others…
What will be the use of the database?
Stefan Savin: Using this tool, we will be able to diagnose cases and to define, classify the children depending on their problems, we’ll manage all the cases and monitor them in time and after to assist and evaluate the cases. So we are going to share this information about vulnerable children with actors and our partners in the regions and at country level.
When we’ll share information with partners, for sure we will not share with them the names of the children nor their address, just the general statistics, just number of children divided by different variables.
