Italy Alarm sounded on child migrants

Italian news agency “Ansa” reports that Save the Children published a study on the treatment of foreign unaccompanied minors and shows that nearly two-third of these children arriving in Italy have fled the care homes in Sicily – mainly due to the poor conditions there. Between November 2008 and February 2009 – as the Lampedusa complex was turned into an expulsion center rather than a reception center, children were sent to facilities designed for adults and not appropriate for children.
