12 Feb 2009 |

‘The Independent’ reports that a Congolese family of asylum-seekers whose children were unlawfully detained for 2 months in a UK immigration centre received £150’000 in compensation. According to the newspaper, this settlement could lead to dozens more compensation claims as it is estimated that the Home Office authorises every year the detention of 2’000 child immigrants.
