The ‘Irish Examiner’ reports that according to the organisation ‘Leanbh’ the number of child begging sightings have dropped from 924 in 2010 to 466 in 2011. The changes in legislation had an effect, while the organisation worked hard to raise the awareness of the public as well as working with the families of begging children to explain them the risks and consequences of child begging.
