Albania CAAP: a new NGO working for the inclusion of the most marginalized children
24 Nov 2008 |
Common Actions Against Poverty (CAAP) is a local Albanian non-governmental organization that aims to reduce poverty and exclusion of the most marginalized children, youth and parents through microentrepreneurship, vocational and life skills training, employment opportunities and economical empowerment.
Today CAAP is implementing several projects. The first one targets the economical empowerment of vulnerable families of children at risk of trafficking or presumed victims of trafficking through subsidized micro loans to benefit 58+ beneficiaries of TACT project (Transnational Actions Against Child Trafficking).
The Income Generation through paper recycling activity is helping ‘Romani Baxt’, a roma child rights organization, to build financial sustainability and to provide services for the children. CAAP is supporting the self-employment of 10 poor Roma and Egyptian women through their collective handicraft work in the Embroidery Association. And the new NGO is also providing support to ‘FBSH’ (Children of the World and Albania) for building financial sustainability.
The national objectives of CAAP are:
- To assist children, youth and parents, as well as communities to gain economical independence through economical empowerment opportunities;
- To assist service providers that offer economical empowerment services to enhance their quality of deliveries;
- To assist local governments in their action for social transformation to reduce the poverty;
- To advocate on behalf of the most vulnerable and poorest for acknowledgement and access to their social and economical rights. [VT]
