Moldova Key Persons and Stakeholders of 'MOVE' Talk about the Future of the Project

Chisinau, Moldova: On May 4th, trainers, animators of the project MOVE together with some key officials came together for a day to discuss the next steps in the project until the end of 2011 and to brainstorm for ideas on how the MGS (Movement, Games and Sport) approach could continue after the project’s end. An operational plan was set up on the community, the regional and national levels, including steps to improve the advocacy elements of the project.

Participants confirmed that accreditation of the program by the Ministry of Education was key in making the approach sustainable in Moldova, while the trainers and animators will continue their work on the community level to promote the inclusion of MOVE in the so-called “optional” classes in schools. The one-day meeting helped some officials to get involved and to endorse the program’s opportunities. When asked how people see the MGS approach continue after the project, one animator answered: “you can see children asking their peers to do a MOVE game during the breaks.” [JA]
