Moldova Children express their views on migration through cartoons and movies

The goal of the ‘My family’ project is to promote children’s rights and the right to a family by empowering children with abilities to express those rights through cartoon movies, photography and digital technologies. For 6 months, 50 children had the opportunity to express their own opinion, to collaborate and share their views with others children and the team. By the means of this project, they have the chance to communicate to the society their opinion about the negative consequences of the migration and, especially, about consequences of parents’ migration for children and youth. Workng in a team with professional cartoons and filmmakers, children created the following short-movies as their reflection on the migration process:

• “Paper Dream” – created by a teenagers group
• “Nobody, nobody is alone” – made by a group of children from 11 to 16 year old
• “Chicks” – made by the youngest group: 5 – 9 years old

As a follow up of the project, Artis studio will use those short-movies in the promotion of children rights and sensitization of Moldovan society to the negative consequences of the migration by broadcasting it on National TV station, in youth centres, and in schools. Tdh Moldova’s professionals will use the films as well, to promote social debates with children and parents in rural communities where the FACT Project working to create Child Protection Units to improve the assistance of vulnerable children and families to prevent their migration, exploitation or trafficking.

The project “My family” was created by the members of the Moldovan “ARTIStudio” Association, in partnership with “AVE Film”, “Motivatia” and “Vicon” Associations, and the Municipal Direction of Child right Protection and Tdh. The project has been financed by Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and Terre des hommes foundation in Republic of Moldova.
