Europe EP Civil Liberties Committee approves "asylum package"

The European Parliament’s website report that the E*P’s Civil Liberties Committee approved a package of measures to improve the way EU asylum system works* and strengthen asylum seekers’ rights. The draft legislation includes (1) a ban on detention of unaccompanied minors, and access to education for them within three months, (2) measures to guaranteee swift processing and adequate protecion during the procedure (3) improvement of the Eurodac system to avoid double applications in several Member States and (4) the creation of a European Asylum Support Office to boost cooperation between Member States.
