Macedonia Europe's new transit country for illegal immigrants

‘Worldcrunch’ reports that Macedonia has become a new transit country for Afghan and Pakistani immigrants who gather near the Serbian border as they try to find their way into the European Union. Macedonian police turn a blind eye, and humanitarian groups aren’t reaching out to help. There is no visible presence of Macedonian police: the border is guarded only on the Serbian side, villagers say. Skopje has only one immigration detention center that no journalists have been able to visit, and that officially just has space for several dozen people.
