UK Five children sent to adult prison in past year

‘News.Scotsman’ reports that new figures revealed that in Scotland five children under 16 were held in adult prison last year. In one of the worst cases a boy was detained for ten days without being convicted for any offence. A Scottish Government spokesman said: “Prison is no place for children” but decisions are still made by Sheriffs.
