Europe Foreign Roma panhandlers earn about EUR 10 a day

“Helsingin Sanomat” reports that a study was conducted in Helsinki, interviewing 200 vagrants, most being Roma from Romania and Bulgaria. The researchers found no evidence of organised activity or coercion, the Roma seem to have come to Finland on their own initiative, with the plan of making more money. The youngest interviewed was only 2, while 34 of the 196 interviewed were underage. The working group of the study is most concerned about the welfare of the children whose education suffers from the constant absence of their parents and from their moving around.
