Czech Republic FORs and Glopolis promote rights based approaches to development among members

November 25, 2010, Prague, Czech Republic: In the framework of the GREAT project the Czech NGDO platform FoRS organised a workshop for its members on rights based approach to development, with the active participation of Glopolis and Terre des hommes. 10 different Czech NGOs participated in the one-day introductory workshop to understand how is this approach different from other approaches. After providing a theoretical background to the participants about the evolution of human rights in international covenants and the development of the approach, participating NGOs had a chance to review their own projects with the rights based approach, going through the project cycle of planning, design and implementation. Given the limited time participants agreed to have further occasions to look at the issue of evaluations and monitoring with a rights-based approach. [JA]
