Germany Germany offers alarming statistics on children

‘Der Spiegel’ reports that a recent federal government report found that 15% of German children live in poverty. Children in single parent household are especially at risk with 37% living below the poverty line. The report also notes a big difference between East and West: in the East unemployment is higher, less children are born, and 24% live with only one parent.
