‘The Slovak Spectator’ published a report from TASR newswire, which reported that the Office of the Government Proxy for Roma Communities introduced its national strategy ‘Roma Inclusion 2005-2015’, whose main aim is to eliminate special schools as part of educating young Roma. The government proxy for Roma communities Miroslav Pollák said that Slovakia has long been criticised for discriminating against Roma children, who are often placed in special schools. Pollák argues that if Roma children are taught in common elementary schools, they will be able to continue their education, finish it and thus have a better chance finding work.
