Kosovo Great interest shown in the first journalist trainings on child trafficking
24 Feb 2008 |
Last week, two trainings of journalists occurred both in Albania and Kosovo (14 trainees each). The trainings on reporting on child victims of trafficking were led by experts on child trafficking, NGO leaders and representatives of national journalist associations.
The trainings focused on topics of ethical journalism, the rules and principles of reporting on children and protecting their identity. During the discussion journalists expressed their interest and the need for further capacity building on the issue. Problems like the lack of information on the legal obligations of a journalist while reporting on victims of trafficking and the lack of knowledge on the legal framework protecting the rights of minors were also identified by the participants.
These events were the first journalist trainings under the project of “Enhancing capacity to address trafficking in especially children from a human rights perspective in Southeast Europe”.
