The Council of Europe’s Group of Experts on Action against Trafficking in Human Beings (GRETA) has published today its first evaluation report, concerning Cyprus. The adoption of a comprehensive anti-trafficking law and the abolition of the so-called “artiste visas”, which favoured trafficking of women for the purpose of sexual exploitation, are amongst the important steps taken by the Cypriot authorities to prevent and combat trafficking in human beings. The report also mentions that the National Action Plan on the fight of trafficking doesn’t include measures against child trafficking as a separate action plan is being developed in Cyprus.
