Romania, UK Heightened media interest for the UK-Romania police operation

12 Apr 2010 |

Several English-language media covered the story of police raid in Tanderei. Latest reports estimate the number of arrested between 17 and 30 who may have earned as much as £100,000 a year from each child. Some articles make the link with similar operations in Milan, and they point out that it is the result of a year-long cooperation of Romanian and British police forces. Some of the 168 children are now in care in the UK, others were sent back to their parents in Romania – no news on how these decisions were made.
