Europe In its third year, GREAT project focuses on impact

Berlin, Germany: On May 17th GREAT partners met in Berlin to hold the project’s steering committee meeting. All partners briefed each other about national activities and the committee decided on financial and reporting issues – which are becoming more critical, since the project is in its final year. Two proposals were developed as a result of the cooperation within the project: one involving Glopolis and ActionAid on the reduction of poverty (MDG goal 1), the other with Tdh Germany, Tdh regional office and Ekvilib on child rights. Also, the project gave an impetus for the European Confederation of Development NGOs, CONCORD to renew its commitment to mainstream human rights-based approaches in its policies and created a task force on the issue, with the leadership of project partners.
Partners agreed to continue to improve a presentation they have prepared for the EC that highlights the impact and results of the project – its value added – in an easily understandable and personalized format. It should be ready in a month.
Partners will meet once again in November to do the final assessment of the joint project and draw lessons learnt with the help of an external evaluator. [JA]
