Extract: In this edition of the newsletter the Panel Secretariat reports that on 7-8 November 2011, a Global Conference on Child Justice was held in Kampala (Uganda) to contribute to the improvement of laws, policies and procedures in the justice systems in Africa.

The newsletter’s special focus highlights that the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime & the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, in collaboration with the Special Representative of the Secretary-General on Violence against Children and with the support of the Government of Austria, convened an expert consultation on prevention of and responses to violence against children within the juvenile justice system on 23-24 January in Vienna.
