1211_jjp_colour_logo_smallAs mentioned in the previous newsletter (May-June 2010), the 54th session of the Committee on the Rights of the Child took place from 25 May to 11 June 2010 in Geneva. Eight countries had their State reports on the implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child reviewed: Argentina, Belgium, FYR of Macedonia, Grenada, Guatemala, Japan, Nigeria and Tunisia. A the end of the session, the Interagency Panel on Juvenile Justice (IPJJ) and Defence for Children International (DCI) both published a report on juvenile justice issues. These documents are available to download.

Besides the Annual Meeting of the IPJJ took place on 24 and 25 June 2010 in Sion, Switzerland. Panel members agreed on the importance of promoting comprehensive juvenile justice reform in compliance with the Convention on the Rights of the Child and discussed options and strategies for joint action.
