In this edition of the newsletter the Panel Secretariat introduces its new website, that includes an innovative database which provides an array of tools and resources in the area of justice for children.
On 7-8 November 2011, a Global Conference was held in Kampala (Uganda) to explore issues of children deprived of their liberty within the justice systems in Africa. Several members of the IPJJ participated in the Conference and provided, along with other participants, technical input to a set of Guidelines for Child-friendly Justice in Africa.
The forthcoming events, where the IPJJ will participate are the following:
- Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) – 59th Session, Geneva, Switzerland
- Expert consultation on prevention of and responses to violence against children within the
juvenile justice system (closed meeting), Vienna, Austria
- Human Rights Council (HRC) – 19th Session, Geneva, Switzerland
- Human Rights Council full-day meeting on children and the administration of justice
