Czech Republic MfD: One-third of Czech teachers slap children

25 Nov 2011 | abuse violence

‘Prague Daily Monitor’ reports that according to daily ‘Mlada fronta Dnes’ (MfD), about 30 percent of teachers at Czech elementary schools have slapped a pupil, referring to a recent poll conducted by the agency GfK. Two-thirds of teachers agree with the view that physical punishment is not educational, but it is often the best solution. The poll also focused on the fact that teachers punish their own children physically more often than parents generally. However, many of them only slap their own children exceptionally rather than on a regular basis, MfD writes.
