Spain Migrant children at risk

22 Jun 2010 |

Human Rights Watch published a report about the condition of unaccompanied children on the Canary Islands. While emergency shelters were built in 2007 to accommodate the sudden influx of unaccompanied minors, these shelters remain open while children continue to arrive. Although some improvements have been made since the organisation’s detailed report in 2007, the centers do not comply with the minimum standards of care and basic child rights cannot be respected.
