Europe Migrants face ongoing humanitarian crisis in Mytilini
23 Jul 2008 |
- The humanitarian news network ‘Reuters AlertNet’ reports that ‘Medecins sans Frontieres’ (MSF) expresses strong worries about “the inadequate medical care and the unacceptable living conditions” at the migrant’s detention center on the island of Mytilini. MSF claims that the hygiene standards are worsening due to the overpopulation, the lack of medical staff and the ineffectiveness of the national authorities to enhance the infrastructures. According to the organisation, this situation might spread contagious diseases in the camp. As a result, MSF is facing obstacles in their access of detention wards and call for immediate action.
