Switzerland Motion to penalize customers of under-age prostitutes: rejected?
14 Mar 2009 |
The Swiss NGO Terre des hommes – Child relief (Tdh) is worried by the Federal Council’s proposal of February 25th to reject the motion “Prostitution of Minors. A legal gap to be filled”, submitted by the National Counselor of Geneva, Barthassat, on December 16th. The purpose of this motion is to make a provision to sentence the customers of 16- to 18-year-old youths who prostitute themselves. Tdh wants to follow the example of neighboring countries and introduce a penal law to sentence such acts. Tdh also supports the Federal Council’s suggestion to establish protection measures for children in civil law.
