Project : MOVE 15 May 2010 | migration protection systems
Ungheni, Moldova: The first MOVE fair play tournament was organized by Tdh Delegation in Moldova in partnership with the Directorate General of Education, Youth and Sport in Ungheni, on May 08, at the Central Stadium. For about two hours the playing field turned into a place of children’s voices, laughter and spirit of cooperation. About 60 children and 20 parents from 4 communities of Ungheni district were gathered together in order to participate in MOVE sport activities and games.
Lucia Sasu, MOVE animator from Tescureni community, explains with emotion: “I have no words to explain the emotions that children had after the Fair Play event from Ungheni. Their eyes shone with joy and happiness, they were proud to participate in this event. The engagement of parents motivated them to support their children and to better understand the fragile children’s world”
This fair play tournament, carried out within the MOVE project, was aimed at creating a non-competitive atmosphere, encouraging respect, cooperation and communication amongst children from different communities. At the end of the games each child received a medal, a UEFA T- shirt, as well as some other gifts.
The representatives of the District Administration Office not only attended the MOVE sport event, but actively participated, side by side, with children and their parents in all games and sports activities.
Socially vulnerable children, children left behind as a consequence of migration of both or one parent need special attention, that is why they were very happy to discover and participate in the fair play event together with children from other communities.
Livia Cater, MOVE animator from Napadeni community, describes the project: “In the situation when children are often left behind by their parents, it is important to support them, that’s why we need the MOVE psychosocial activities with clear objectives and goals that could be carried out in each Moldovan community across the whole country”.
the same sports events are going to take place in Soroca and Ialoveni districts on May 22 and 29, 2010. [NM]
