Kosovo New partnership between Terre des hommes delegation and the French Embassy
Project : Kosovo 11 Nov 2010 | child exploitation health care
Pristina, Kosovo, November 10, 2010: As of November 2010 Terre des hommes delegation in Kosovo can count on a new partner for the support of its “CPSN” (Child Protection Safety Net) project – the French Embassy. Thanks to this new partnership, an additional dimension can be added to this wide-ranging project: the most vulnerable children will now also receive support in terms of health.
The core objective of the CPSN project is to build a Child Protection Safety Net for the protection of children against delinquency, violence, abuse, neglect and exploitation and trafficking – in six municipalities of Kosovo. Terre des hommes offers capacity building to child protection stakeholders who work together in the frame of a Task Force at the municipal level, to manage children’s cases through offering them a legal and social protection as well as assistance in educational matters.
Thanks to the new support of the French Embassy, a health care component will now be included in the Child Protection Safety Net. This new component will allow Terre des hommes to provide access to health care and health prevention activities for the most vulnerable children of Kosovo.
The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo will be one of the strategic partners of Terre des hommes to implement this new component in the frame of CPSN project and will act as a major support thanks to its expertise. A manual regarding health care issues will be written by a working group in partnership with this Institute. This manual will then serve as a basis to offer a range of trainings for child protection stakeholders and Roma, Ashkali and Egyptian communities in terms of child health. The implementation of this new component has immediately started and will last for one year until November 2011.
This partnership agreement is the first one, signed by Mr. Jean-François FITOU, French Ambassador in Kosovo and Artur MARKU, delegate of Terre des hommes in Kosovo. Both partners have expressed a great enthusiasm towards the implementation of this agreement, considering it as a first step toward a stronger future collaboration. [KV]
