Malta NGO sees situation for refugee children as 'dramatic'

‘Malta Star’ reports that Terre des hommes Germany – based on the study visit done early May – released a statement on World Refugee Day, pointing out the ‘dramatic’ situation of refugees – including many children – on the tiny island of Malta. With its 4,500 refugees, Malta has the highest per capita refugees of all EU member states. Andreas Meissner is quoted saying “Malta is absolutely stretched beyond its capacities with the situation and that one cannot speak of a humane treatment of refugees”.
