France Nicolas Sarkozy gets tough on France's itinerant groups

‘The Guardian’ reports that Nicolas Sarkozy has been accused of stigmatising Travellers in his latest statement in which he talked about the expulsion of all illegal encampments. His move comes after a local riot of Travellers protesting the shooting death of a youth. Sarkozy however wants a generalised crackdown on itinerant people’s encampments- which provoked anger in human rights circles.
