Europe Nigerian human traffickers go on trial in the Netherlands

12 Mar 2009 |

The Dutch newspaper ‘NRC Handelsblad’ publishes a well documented report on how Nigerian teenagers were trafficked by an international gang, using the Netherlands as a country of transit en route to Belgium or Southern Europe. The story is being published in the framework of the trial of a gang accused of human trafficking. The public prosecutor reportedly calls it “historical”, as it is the first time it has been possible to tackle the entire chain from beginning to end, with the collaboration of different European police forces.
