Malta No legal time limit on child sex abuse

12 Nov 2011 | child rights

‘Times of Malta’ reports that a draft policy document suggests that sexual abuse of children should not be time-barred and the law must be changed to ensure such crimes never go unpunished. The National Children’s Policy recommends increasing the punishment for people found guilty of sexually abusing a child. The idea is to transmit a message of zero tolerance. The draft policy document lists a series of recommended legal amendments aimed at safeguarding children’s rights and ensuring their protection. The idea is to bring all laws concerning children under one umbrella law.
