Switzerland November 20, thousands of Swiss youngsters in the streets
15 Nov 2007 |
November 20, 2007, is the International Day of Children’s Rights and the tenth anniversary of Switzerland’s signing the UN Convention of Child Rights, when thousands of youngsters will be in the streets at the call of Terre des hommes – child relief.
Their main aim will be to make Swiss people aware of the real-life conditions of millions of children elsewhere in the world, forced to live on the streets. In the space of one day, some 7’000 young Swiss will transform themselves into cleaners of windscreens, shoe-shiners, sellers of papers… All those jobs which their contemporaries do, as children in a street situation, either to ensure their and their family’s survival or, unfortunately, also to finance exploiters, individuals or gangs, all of them without scruples.
