Europe Official warns of 'slave-like' labor market
30 Nov 2008 |
The ‘Associated Press’ reports that Morten Kjaerum, director of the European Agency for Fundamental Rights in an interview warned that there was a hidden labor market in Europe in which migrants and even children were working in “slave-like” situations. While the size of the market was difficult to asses, low-end jobs in the sex and farming industries were where most cases occur. The Agency is planning to issue a report on child trafficking early next year. Preliminary findings show that this is a real issue that the EU nations and institutions need to pay attention to.
