Slovenia Opening of the photo exhibition "GLOBAL WORLD: through the lens of human rights"

1024_phoca_thumb_l_8_mala_small On Saturday, March 6th 2010 in the Gallery KUD France Prešeren, Ekvilib Institute announced the winner of the international photography contest and opened the exhibition “GLOBAL WORLD: through the lens of human rights”.

On this occasion a round table was held with members of the international jury, the Slovenian Ombudsman and a representative of SPP, who talked about photography as a tool for promotion of human rights and about the limits of legitimacy that are raised by such photos.

The winner of this year’s contest is GIULIO DI STURCO with the photo-story Bihar Aftermath, which was made in India in 2008 after devastating floods in the state of Bihar.

1023_phoca_thumb_m_10gds_biharaftermath_bihar_2008_small Giulio has received numerous awards, among others he won the first edition of the Reporters Without Borders contest in 2007, in February 2009 he won a World Press Photo award and has published his work in several international magazines.
His photos, together with other finalists of the contest, can be seen in KUD France Prešeren in Ljubljana until 23th of March 2010.
