Cyprus Parents clueless about online risks to children

9 May 2011 | abuse internet sexual exploitation

‘Cyprus Mail’ reports of the appointment of Greek Cypriot composer George Theophanous as new goodwill ambassador for the Council of Europe’s One in Five campaign against child sex abuse. The campaign has two goals, to raise awareness among the public, parents and children and the second is to promote the ratification of the Lanzarote Convention on the protection of children against sexual exploitation. During the event it was revealed that the vast majority of parents are not aware of their children’s online activity and of the dangers that this may pose for them.
