Macedonia Preparation for the inter-regional meeting has started

The final Regional Preparatory Meeting was held on 20 January 2009, in Skopje. Opportunities of regional cooperation and activities in the third year of the project were widely discussed. The status of the ’Regional report on the implementation of the Unicef guidelines’ and the coordinated launch of the report in September 2009 was agreed. The establishment of a Regional award for journalists was supported by partners. A regional committee composed of media experts, journalist, Tdh experts and partners would award the best ethical report on child trafficking issues in the region. (…)

Preparation for the Inter-regional Meeting on the 12-16 October, Chiang Mai, Thailand has also started. Some common issues in South East European region were identified which should be represented at the global conference. The topics are the followings:

1. Experiences of cooperation/ capacity building of journalists
2. Implementation of the UNICEF guidelines in South Eastern Europe

Partners expressed their interest and expectations about the global event is sharing experiences with other regions, exchange on best practices and gathering information on other regions’ child protection systems,legislations and institutions.

The meeting also gave occassion to collect feedback on the last Regional Workshop in Budapest. Partners’ reflections on the workshop were positive; they highlighted the added value of the workshop was:

• the opportunity to discuss similarities and differences in the region,
• opportunity to meet counterparts from the region
• sharing experiences,
• wide range of participants (NGOs, journalists and national authorities invited),
• networking opportunities
