Europe Recession may have slowed down migration

  • ‘Times of Malta’ reports that according the EU’s border control agency’s report, the global economic crisis and the dwindling employment opportunities – both legal and illegal – resulted in decreasing number of immigrants arriving from sub-Saharan Africa this year. Frontex expects that this is only a temporary ‘lull’ in numbers which are expected to pick up as soon as the economies start growing again.
