Hungary Reconciling Roma

10 May 2011 | education roma

‘Sofia Echo’ reports that the Hungarian government unveils key aspects of its new program to tackle Roma exclusion. The program looks at employment and education as the keys to integrating Roma into mainstream society, so the annual intake of Roma students at Universities will be tripled while thousands will be assisted back to work. According to MEP Livia Jaroka previous attempts to tackle the issue failed because they were too narrow in scope, saying that “this issue is not ethnic at all”.
