Russia Russia eyes U.S. adoption freeze after boy sent back

9 Apr 2010 |

‘Reuters’ reports that a seven-year-old Russian boy was sent by his American adoptive mum back to Russia, alone on a plane, with a note disowning him. As a response the Russian authorities decided to freeze all further adoptions until the two countries sign an interstate treaty setting out adoption terms. The child was adopted from an orphanage in the Far East. His adoptive mother decided to send him back as he was not fitting in, with a one-way ticket to Moscow.
