Europe Sex Trafficking - Book Review
22 Jan 2009 |
The ‘Financial Times’ provides a book review of the recently published book of Siddarth Kara about sex trafficking. Mr. Kara travelled around the world to understand the phenomenon of this modern-day slavery. In his book he includes interviews with a girl from Moldova trafficked via Serbia and Greece to Italy and teenagers working in the freezing winter cold on the streets of Rome. As an MBA graduate he uses his business knowledge to look at the economics of this evil trade and discovers that profit margins are 72-75%, even in Europe where “acquisition costs” are higher than in India.
