Sweden, Denmark Sex trafficking: Countries take different approaches to same problem

30 Mar 2011 | child trafficking sexual exploitation

CNN’ published an article, comparing the situation of sex work in Denmark, where it is legal and regulated, and Sweden where buying sex is illegal. According to the Swedish National Rapporteur on Human Trafficking their law was ridiculed when introduced – but now several countries are looking at this model. While sex work has not ceased completely, it is rather minimal in Sweden, whereas in Denmark it has grown rapidly, with foreign women in the trade in increasing numbers. Police has a hard time identifying victims of trafficking.
