European Union Strasbourg: ground-breaking convention on the sexual abuse of children adopted
21 Jul 2007 |
The Committee of Ministers adopted the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse. The convention is the first to target specifically child sexual abuse. It will fill gaps in European legislation and establish a harmonised legal framework to combat this scourge which affects between 10% and 20% of all children in Europe.
