‘Cyprus Mail’ reports that Cyprus participates in the Council of Europe’s (CoE) campaign called “One in Five”, which aims to stop sexual violence against children. Earlier this year a Greek Cypriot composer George Theophanous was appointed as new goodwill ambassador of the campign. The campaign is focused on two main goals: promoting the ratification of the Council of Europe Convention on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse and creating awareness among not only social institutions but people and children too. “Children, their families and societies must be equipped with the knowledge and tools to prevent and report sexual violence against children, thereby raising awareness”, said the Minister of Labor.
