Moldova Supporting reintegration of children through MGS methodology

Project : Moldova 10 Jun 2011 | psychosocial reintegration

2395_tiraspol6_smallMarch 2011, Tiraspol, Moldova: Tdh trained and had multiplication trainings for animators so that they are able to use the ‘Movement, Games and Sports’ methodology to accompany the reintegration of repatriated children into their families, community and school system. This was the first training held in Tiraspol, Transnistria, which included 10 psychosocial topics, among them perception, resilience, communication and leadership. Methodological and technical modules were also included on how to plan an activity and basic principles of psychosocial group sessions with children.

2396_tiraspol14_smallOne teacher – assessing the training as successful – mentioned:_"I didn’t know that the psycho-social approach of the MGS methodology – in a short time – can consolidate a team that had not met previously…" Another participant mentioned: “I learned to be open to receive feedback as a constructive moment in my practice, particularly to improve working with children…”The participants are convinced that the MGS methodology will help them a lot in their daily work with children – and children in turn will enjoy all the games presented at the training session.

After the training, animators participate in individual coaching, when they facilitate sessions with children, under the observation of an MGS coach in order to give them support in how to integrate methodological principles and achieving their goals. While they have already introduced psychosocial activities in their daily work with children, the MOVE National Project manager and two other trainers will hold coaching sessions for them between May and September.
