Moldova, Belarus Tdh Moldova shares best practices with Belarusian Delegation

Chisinau, Moldova – On June 22 the Tdh Delegation to the Republic of Moldova hosted the Belarusian Delegation that came to Moldova with a familiarization visit within the project “Preventing, Fighting and Addressing the Social Consequences of Trafficking in Human Beings in the Republic of Belarus”. This project was launched in December 2008 by the European Union, the UNDP and the UNICEF in Belarus. The aim of the project is to enhance capacities of the Republic of Belarus in conducting integrated anti-trafficking activities.
During their meeting with Tdh’s representatives the participants have been informed about the activities of the FACT Transnational Action (TA) project in Moldova, Russian Federation and Ukraine, aimed at repatriating and reintegrating Moldovan children abandoned in countries of destination and identified as victims of abuse, neglect, exploitation and/or trafficking. The participants shared best practices in the area of combating trafficking in children, touched upon many important issues, such as factors making children leave the country, the psychosocial portrait of the children, as well as the importance of the opinion of a child for all decisions concerning him.
The representatives of the Belarusian Delegation highly appreciated the experience and the institutional approach Tdh puts into practice while protection, repatriation and reintegration of children victims, as well as showed their interest towards the existing procedures in the CIS countries and the role the Minister of Internal Affairs plays in the process of repatriation of children.
Along with Tdh Foundation the Belarusian Delegation has visited many other actors of primary importance in the area of counter-trafficking in Moldova, such as the Ministry of Labour, Social Protection and Family, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, IOM mission to Moldova, OSCE mission to Moldova, the Prosecutor General’s Office, etc. [NM]
